Now that the final preseason game is in the books, the process of getting the roster prepared for the 2026 regular season kicks into overdrive for the Minnesota Vikings (and the 31 NFL teams that don’t matter nearly as much as the Minnesota Vikings), as they attempt to build a roster that gives them a better chance of winning the NFC North than the current +430 odds that our friends at the FanDuel Sportsbook are giving them.

Between now and 5:00 PM Central on Sunday, 30 August, the Vikings must reduce their roster from the current 91 players (they have a roster exemption for punter Brett Thorson as part of the International Player Pathway Program) down to 53. We will get more into the rules in a separate post, but the purpose of this post is to track any cuts, trades, or whatever it might be that are made public by the team between now and that deadline.

Over the past couple of years, a few moves have trickled out here and there from the team, and then they’ve done a big dump of moves at the end to sort of finalize the 53-man roster. However it happens this season, we’ll be doing our best to keep track of things here.

We will update this post with any moves that the team makes, so keep refreshing for the latest.

UPDATE: It appears that we have our first move, as Aaron Wilson is reporting the Vikings are releasing cornerback Tre Hawkins III

#Vikings are releasing former #Giants corner Tre Hawkins III, per a league source. Experienced player with some upside
