COL 6 – IND 3
The Columbus Clippers took on the Indianapolis Indians Friday night. Justin Campbell had the start for Columbus, throwing 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball. Campbell allowed three hits and struck out five. Rorik Maltrud improved to 6-1 on the season, throwing 5.1 innings. Maltrud allowed three runs on three hits and two walks. He struck out two batters. Franco Aleman closed the game, finishing the last two outs of the ninth inning. Aleman allowed a hit and struck out one.
Columbus scored six runs on eight hits. In the first inning, they put up five runs. Cooper Ingle drew a lead off walk. Daniel Schneemann reached on a single and Kahlil Watson drew a walk to load the bases. Kyle Manzardo doubled on a liner to left, scoring Ingle and Schneemann. With runners on second and third, who else but Ralphy Velazquez. Ralphy launched a three run home run 402 feet to right center.

Akron RubberDucks (59-62) – AAAKR 1 – SOM 3
The Akron RubberDucks fell to the Somerset Patriots Friday night. Franklin Gómez took the mound for Akron, throwing 4.0 innings of one run baseball. Gómez allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk. He struck out six batters. Sean Matson fell to 1-8 on the season, going 3.1 innings of two run ball. Matson allowed two hits and two walks and struck out four batters. Dylan DeLucia closed the game, recording the final two outs of the game.
Akron’s only run was a game tying solo home run in the top of the fourth. With two outs, Aaron Walton worked a full count then hit a homer to left field.

LC 3 – CR 8
The Cedar Rapid Kernels defeated the Lake County Captains Friday night with the Captains only scoring three runs on nine hits and committing four errors. Jacob Zibin threw 5.0 innings of work. On four hits and two walks, he allowed three runs, only one was earned. Zibin struck out five batters. Back-to-back fielding errors in the bottom of the second allowed two runners to score. Melkis Hernández fell to 7-5 on the season. He allowed one run, unearned, on one hit and a walk. He struck out four. A throwing error by the catcher, Cannon Peebles, put a runner on third who scored in the next at bat. Conner Whittaker closed out the game, pitching the ninth. He allowed four runs, all earned, on four hits. He struck out two batters.
All three runs for the Caps came in the first inning. Tommy Hawke and Dauri Fernandez drew back-to-back walks. They executed a double steal to put both runners in scoring position. Welbyn Francisca drew another walk to load the bases. Hawke scored in a force out, leaving runners on the corner. Juneiker Caceres doubled to score Fernandez and move the runner to third.

A hit by pitch loaded the bases and forced a pitching change. Tyler Howard drew a walk and walked in the final run for Lake County.
Hill City Howlers (53-70) – Single AKAN 1 – HC 5
The Hill City Howlers beat the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, out hitting their opponents nine hits to five. The Howlers pitching staff was efficient last night. Erigaldi Perez got the start and improved to 3-4 on the season. Perez threw 6.0 innings of work, only giving up one run on four hits and one walk. Perez struck out nine batters. Manuel Osorio earned his first save of the season. He only allowed on hit and struck out six in three innings of work.
The first run for the Howlers came in the bottom of the fourth. Alejandro Blasco hit a one-out single to left. Deiten Lachance doubled to left to score Blasco. Angel Abreu singled to advance the runner to third. With a stolen base, Abreu advanced to second. Johan Rodriguez doubled on a liner to center to score both Lachance and Abreu.
In the bottom of the sixth, Lechance reached base again with a double to left. Johan Rodriguez hit a one-out sac fly to score Lachance. The next inning, Alejandro Garza doubled to left. With two outs, he stole third and came around to score on a single hit by Alejandro Blasco for the final run of the game.
