Ever since Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami, it had seemed like David Beckham's side operated under a different set of rules. And frankly, MLS allowed it to get to this point.
But on Thursday, the league finally took action against Inter Miami interim head coach Guillermo Hoyos. And, of course, it probably won't even matter for Hoyos.
Hoyos was suspended for one match and fined as a result of repeated late-kickoff violations. Anyone who has watched an Inter Miami match this year has taken notice to how the club views the kickoff schedule as a suggestion. The team repeatedly shows up late out of the dressing room for the second half and often makes the opponent wait in the tunnel at pregame walkout.
Like they did in the first half, Miami taking their sweet time to get out on the field. Nashville players out, the countdown clock is well past expired, and the crowd is booing.

But the timing of the MLS suspension is hilarious when you consider Hoyos' standing with the club.
According to The Guardian, Inter Miami is prepared to replace Hoyos with former Argentina international Cristian “Kily” González. The contract could be finalized in the coming days.
Hoyos was named interim coach after Javier Mascherano resigned in April. And Inter Miami has particularly struggled since MLS restarted from the World Cup break. Inter Miami is winless in its past five matches despite having Messi back with the squad.
So, after all that, it appears unlikely that Hoyos will coach again for Miami regardless of the suspension. We'll have to see if it makes any impact on Inter Miami's tardiness because those antics really can't continue.
