As the boxing world turns its attention to Québec City, three promising fighters—Osleys Iglesias, Wilkens Mathieu, and Thomas Chabot—are intensifying their preparations for an exciting card scheduled for October 8. This event, organized by Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM), will take place at the Théâtre Capitole and will be available for fans to watch live on DAZN, as well as on Punching Grace for those in Canada.
Osleys Iglesias (15-0, 14 KOs) is set to headline the event, defending his IBF super middleweight world title against the undefeated Oliver Zaren (19-0-1, 8 KOs). Iglesias captured the title earlier this year in a thrilling match against Pavel Silyagin and will be looking to make a successful first defense. The title became available after Terence Crawford's retirement, allowing Iglesias to step into the spotlight.
In an open workout session, Iglesias shared insights into his training regimen, stating, “The preparation is different, of course. Every opponent you got to adapt and train in a different way to fight this opponent. But, on the other side, it’s a new team [that I’m training with] so preparation is a bit different, but it’s a good preparation.” He emphasized his motivation, saying, “The motivation has to come from me. That’s first thing’s first and it is there and I’m going to fight with all my heart.” Iglesias has had a diverse boxing career, starting in Germany and Poland before establishing himself in Canada, where he has fought six times since signing with EOTTM.
Wilkens Mathieu, another rising star in the boxing scene, boasts an impressive record of 16-0 with 11 KOs. He is set to face Vladimir Shishkin (17-2, 11 KOs) in a 10-round super middleweight bout. At just 21 years old, Mathieu is already ranked in the top 15 across all major sanctioning organizations, indicating that a championship opportunity could be on the horizon. He remarked on his approach to climbing the rankings, saying, “I think I just have to continue to climb up the rankings... Eventually I’m going to be at the top [of the rankings].” Mathieu has been active in the ring since his debut in 2023, which he believes has been crucial for his development as a fighter.
Thomas Chabot (13-1, 8 KOs) will also be in action, taking on Jose Antonio Sanchez (18-3-1, 6 KOs) in a 10-round featherweight match. After a setback last year, Chabot has moved down in weight class and is eager to prove himself. He stated, “There’s no major difference in the weight change... But I did a few changes in trainers and when I set up with Giuseppe [Moffa], we both knew the time was now to move forward in that division.” Chabot is focused on maintaining his resilience in the ring, expressing pride in his ability to push through tough moments during fights.
