GREEN BAY – Given the tumult in their backfield, the Green Bay Packers were not going to let the NFL’s cutdown day pass without getting a running back.
The Packers are trading for Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kaleb Johnson, according to Tom Pelissero. A third-round draft pick in 2025, Johnson was stuck in a crowded Steelers backfield that includes Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle.
He may find more room to compete for a role with the Packers.
In another move, the Packers released running back Pierre Strong Jr.
