Packers Place Savion Williams and Collin Oliver on Injured Reserve

The Green Bay Packers are placing wide receiver Savion Williams and edge rusher Collin Oliver on the injured reserve to start the 2026 season. Williams and Oliver will miss at least four games before returning.

Williams has been dealing with an ankle injury he sustained in the preseason, while Oliver has a calf injury.

Williams is entering his second year in the league and could be a contributing weapon in Green Bay's passing attack in 2026. In his rookie campaign, he hauled in 10 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 37 yards on 11 carries.

Oliver is also entering his second season, but he only appeared in one game in his rookie year, recording one total tackle, a tackle for loss, and two quarterback hits.

Both Williams and Oliver have shown flashes and could be solid players for the Packers in the 2026 season.

On offense, Green Bay will have to rely heavily on the passing attack, as star running back Josh Jacobs is starting the season on the Commissioner's Exempt List. That leaves a lot of pressure on Jordan Love and the passing attack to lead the offense.

Green Bay has some talented weapons with Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, and Tucker Kraft. Love is coming off a career year in 2025 as he completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

The 27-year-old is an efficient passer and could be an MVP candidate in 2026. The Packers have a talented roster and are in their Super Bowl window, but with some key pieces missing at the start of the season, their stars and depth players will need to step up.

Off the edge, Green Bay will rely on the young pass rushers Lukas Van Ness, Barryn Sorrell, Dani Dennis-Sutton, and others to step up while Micah Parsons and Oliver recover from their injuries.

Green Bay will hope to get Williams and Oliver back on the field soon, as they could be solid contributors in the pursuit of a Lombardi Trophy.
