Packers QB Jordan Love's brother-in-law joins NFL team ahead of season

Jordan Love missed playing against his brother-in-law by one week.

Ron Stone Jr., the younger brother to Love's wife, Ronika, has signed with the Denver Broncos, the team announced on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

The Green Bay Packers are coming off a 33-13 victory over the Broncos in a Week 2 preseason game last Friday night, Aug. 21, on the road. Love led a touchdown-scoring drive in his one series to open the game.

Four days later, Stone, 26, joined the Broncos.

Stone practiced the day he signed, according to the Denver Post, and will likely play in Denver's final preseason game this week as he looks to make the 53-man roster, which would be a first for him.

The Broncos play host to the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, Aug. 28, at Empower Field at Mile High.

Ron Stone Jr. is looking to make an NFL roster for the first time in his football career.

After a six-year collegiate career at Washington State, Stone went undrafted in 2024. Stone signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as a rookie free agent but was cut prior to the season and didn't make the practice squad.

Stone, a 6-foot-3, 257-pound defensive end, played the last two years in the United Football League.

The eight-team UFL plays its season in the spring. During the 2026 season, Stone played in 10 games for the Columbus Aviators, one of three new franchises in the league. He had 5 ½ sacks and five tackles for loss for the Aviators.

In 2025, while playing for the Michigan Panthers, a team that no longer exists, Stone had 4.0 sacks, four tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in nine games.

He'll join a Broncos team that had one of the best defenses in the NFL last season. Led by veteran defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, Denver was ranked No. 2 in total defense, No. 2 in rush defense, No. 3 in scoring defense and No. 7 in pass defense.

Stone has a close relationship with Love.

He had the honors of officiating his sister's wedding to Love in summer 2025 at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, in Dana Point, California.

In wedding photos on his Instagram, Ronika told her brother in the comments: "You were amazing! I love you so much."

Love called him "Reverend Stone."

Stone also attended last season's Packers wild-card playoff game against the Chicago Bears, taking family photos with Love prior to the showdown.

Stone has followed in the footsteps of his father, Ron Stone Sr.

The older Stone played 13 seasons in the NFL and was a three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman.

A fourth-round selection in the 1993 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, Stone was part of two Super Bowl teams in the 1990s.

Stone later played for the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders. He retired after the 2005 season.

In addition to Ronika and Ron Jr., the Stone siblings include Ronnie, Ronna and Deja.
