The Green Bay Packers are waiving rookie cornerback Domani Jackson at the cutdown deadline, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Jackson, who was taken 201st overall in the draft by the team in April, had a poor performance in Green Bay’s preseason finale against the Arizona Cardinals after looking alright in his Week 2 debut. For the most part, all of the Packers’ third-string defensive backs struggled when the bullets were live this preseason, as Green Bay gave up three consecutive touchdowns in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ last real offensive drives to lose that game, and the Packers allowed 38 points to the Cardinals.

According to reports, the Packers have already shed seven defensive backs from their 91-man roster, meaning that they’re down to just nine players in the secondary. Those players seem likely to make the squad, as constructed:
- CB Keisean Nixon
- CB Carrington Valentine
- CB Brandon Cisse
- CB Benjamin St-Juste
- S Xavier McKinney
- S Evan Williams
- S/Slot Javon Bullard
- S Kitan Oladapo
- Slot Kamal Hadden
In the NFL, you can’t really afford to go with fewer than nine defensive backs on a roster, considering that five are on the field regularly and the position has a large special teams burden.
Zenitz added that the Packers want Jackson, who missed the start of camp while recovering from surgery to his core, to re-sign with their practice squad.
