The PGA TOUR Championship is underway in Atlanta, and drivers heading through the East Lake area should expect extra traffic and several street closures through the weekend.
According to the Atlanta Department of Transportation, the closures begin Wednesday, August 26, and will remain in place through Sunday, August 30, as the tournament brings thousands of spectators to the area.

Closures and traffic changes will generally be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with Sunday hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area when possible, use posted detours and allow extra time for their commute.
The affected streets include:
- Second Avenue from Glenwood Avenue to Memorial Drive
- Alston Drive from Second Avenue to Allendale Drive
- Glenwood Avenue’s right lane from Quillian Avenue to Summit Drive, westbound
- Allendale Drive from Alston Drive to Glenwood Avenue
- Club Place, one-way from Alston Drive to Memorial Drive
- East Lake Drive, one-way from Memorial Drive toward Alston Drive
- All through streets between Alston Drive and Memorial Drive, from Second Avenue east to Allendale Drive, including Third Avenue, Carter Avenue, Daniel Avenue and Spence Avenue
- Green Avenue from Alston Drive to Memorial Drive
ATLDOT said Alston Drive will operate as a one-way street between Second Avenue and Allendale Drive, with traffic flowing from Second Avenue toward Allendale Drive.
Street parking will also be affected, and vehicles that are normally parked on the street will need to be moved to alternative parking.
East Lake residents and official tournament vehicles will still be able to access the affected areas with special hangtags.
