I think it’s great that the Rays are going to stay in Tampa Bay. I hate seeing teams relocate franchises regardless of the sport, so seeing that they are basically at the finish line to build a new stadium is good for Major League Baseball.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- Jesus Luzardo has been fantastic this year, perhaps a little under the radar. How he is making hitters look is just plain silly ($).
- The front office times, they are a’changin’. The team announced a slew of moves to the front office, including one that admits player development is a problem.
- Andrew Painter has gotten his fastball to a better place. It’s not great yet, but he talks about how he has put the work in ($).
MLB news:
- Legalized gambling has taken its toll on some of the players in the game. This is a fascinating story that is also kind of sad ($).
- Tampa Bay has decided to give the Rays a little over $2 billion to build a new stadium, a pretty large step in actually getting that stadium built.
- George Lombard, Jr. was supposed to be a solid defensive shortstop for the Yankees upon promotion. Now he has a six-game error streak.
