The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for an exciting week as they announce a series of celebratory events leading up to their regular season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on September 13 at Acrisure Stadium. This initiative, dubbed Steelers Kickoff Week, aims to engage fans and foster community spirit across Pittsburgh.
Beginning on September 7, the Steelers will host a variety of community events and interactive displays in six neighborhoods throughout the city. Central to this celebration is a traveling exhibit featuring oversized replicas of the team's Super Bowl rings, originally designed for the Steelers Country activation at the 2026 NFL Draft.
Throughout the week, from Monday to Saturday, these giant Super Bowl rings will make stops at different locations, where fans will have the opportunity to participate in a collaborative art project. Attendees will contribute to a paint-by-numbers canvas that represents each neighborhood, culminating in a stunning 24-foot mural that will be unveiled at Acrisure Stadium during the home opener.
In addition to the artistic endeavors, the Steelers have planned various charity events to give back to the community. Dan Rooney, the team's Vice President of Strategy, emphasized the importance of connecting with fans in the wake of the city's recent hosting of the draft. "What drives the Steelers is our fans," Rooney stated. "That’s why we’re bringing kickoff week excitement directly to them. After welcoming the football world to Pittsburgh for the 2026 NFL Draft, we’re taking a piece of that experience into neighborhoods across the city — giving fans a chance to relive the historic event, connect with our team’s legacy and build excitement for the season ahead."
The week’s schedule includes several notable events. On Monday, the festivities will kick off at the Patricia Rooney Memorial Fountain in Allegheny Commons Park, where the Super Bowl IX ring will be on display. This event will also launch a matching campaign benefiting the Salvation Army Harbor Light Center, honoring the 40th anniversary of Project Bundle-Up, an initiative Patricia Rooney helped establish.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Steel Community Field in Hazelwood will host the Super Bowl X ring alongside a free Steelers Youth Football Mini Camp for children aged 6-14. The following day, the Super Bowl XIII ring will be showcased at Schenley Plaza, a location steeped in Steelers history, as it is near the site of Forbes Field, where the team played its first home game in 1933.
Thursday's events will take place on the lawn of Point State Park, featuring the Super Bowl XIV ring, which was first displayed during the 2026 NFL Draft. On Friday, as part of a nationwide day of service to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, volunteers will pack over 248,500 meals for local families in need at Acrisure Stadium, where the Super Bowl XL ring will be displayed.
The week will conclude on Saturday at the Duquesne Incline Overlook, where the Super Bowl XLIII ring will be featured, and the Steelers will cover fare costs for visitors from 12-2 p.m. Finally, on Sunday, the kickoff game against the Falcons will see all six Super Bowl rings and the completed mural arrive at Acrisure Stadium, marking the culmination of a week filled with community engagement and excitement.
