PSG's League Phase Schedule in UEFA Champions League Confirmed

Earlier on this week, PSG's league phase opponents in this seasons UEFA Champions League were confirmed at the official draw in Monaco, a ceremony that saw defender Marquinhos awarded UEFA's respect award, for his gesture towards Gabriel after last season's final.

The eight opponents were confirmed as: FC Barcelona (home), Manchester City (away), AS Roma (home), Aston Villa (away), Galatasaray (home), Villarreal (away), Slovan Bratislava (home), and Como (away).

So, since Thursday, we have known the eight opponents that Luis Enrique's side will be playing, plus which of those four will be at home, and which of those four will be on the road.

However, the scheduling and the dates of the games had yet to be confirmed, so they could not quite yet be put in your calendars and diaries.

Well, now they can. Indeed so, as on Saturday (the 29th of August), UEFA officially confirmed the scheduling of the entire league phase, so now we can look ahead and have a look.

PSG will begin their title defence at home to Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday, the 9th of September at 21:00 CEST. For some reason, there are actually a handful of Thursday evening games that week, but the Parisians are not included in that.

Then, as a result of the newly introduced international break, that will be the last game in the competition for over a month, until a showdown with Premier League side Manchester City away at The Etihad.

Then, six days after that game, it is back to the Parc Des Princes to welcome Barcelona, a game that will be extra special for Enrique and Ferran Torres. That game will take place on the 20th, also at 21:00.

After that game comes another road trip, this time to Spain, where Villarreal will be the opponents. That one will take place on Tuesday the 3rd of November at 21:00.

Three weeks later brings another reunion for Enrique, as well as for Lucas Digne, when PSG welcome AS Roma from one capital to the other. That clash is on Wednesday the 25th of November at 21:00.

Then, the final European game before Christmas is a trip to England, for Digne’s second reunion against Aston Villa and former PSG boss, Unai Emery. That game is scheduled for Tuesday the 8th of December at 21:00.

The penultimate fixture of the league phase will be away to debutants Como of Serie A, with that one taking place on the 20th of January at 21:00.

Finally, to round off the league phase, the team will host Turkish side Galatasaray on the 27th at 21:00, where all the games will kick off at the exact same time. That showdown will see former Napoli team mates Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen reunited.

So, there we have it. PSG’s league phase in full. Looking forward to it. Is this the year the team finishes top 8?
