AC Milan’s Rafael Leao is on his way out and is now faced with a huge decision regarding his future. Aston Villa and Galatasaray are competing for his signature, with the final decision hinging on what the player wants but there is a chance the English club could have a slight advantage.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have a detailed report about the situation, making clear that Leao’s decision could take another day and it could even come later tomorrow, if not tomorrow morning.
While things are difficult to call, Aston Villa could be in the lead – by a minor margin.
Unai Emery has personally spoken to the player about his role in the project and there is a good possibility of them working together. Besides, the Birmingham club were initially offered an initial loan and an obligation to buy but have now proceeded towards offering a permanent deal, which suits Milan more.
The only difference lies in the salary offers. Aston Villa have put forward €7.5 million per season, which is quite less than what the Portuguese has demanded. But Galatasaray are offering a higher wage, putting forward €12 million per season to Leao and €45 million to Milan.
But the player has always had an ambition of playing in England. While he won’t be at the centre of the project at Aston Villa, he will play in the Premier League and the Champions League. This could be key in swaying his mind, even if Gala are offering a bigger package and intermediary George Gardi is trying to convince him to chose the Turkish club.
