Raiders Host Workouts for Ojulari Brothers, Former Second Round Picks

The Las Vegas Raiders are exploring new talent to enhance their defensive lineup, recently hosting workouts for two notable linebackers who share a unique bond: they are brothers. Azeez and BJ Ojulari, both former second round picks in the NFL Draft, have a wealth of potential and experience that could benefit the Raiders' roster.

Azeez Ojulari, the elder sibling at 26 years old, was selected 50th overall by the New York Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft after a standout career at the University of Georgia. During his four seasons with the Giants, Azeez played in 46 games, starting 30 of them, and accumulated an impressive 22.0 sacks. His performance established him as a key player on the defensive line. However, last season saw him limited to just three games with the Philadelphia Eagles due to injury, leading to his signing with the Atlanta Falcons this offseason.

On the other hand, younger brother BJ Ojulari, 24, was drafted 41st overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2023 NFL Draft following his collegiate success at LSU. As a rookie, BJ appeared in 17 games but faced challenges with injuries that sidelined him for the entire 2024 season. He made a return last year, playing in eight games and recording four sacks across his 25 appearances. Despite his injury setbacks, BJ is seen as a player with significant untapped potential.

Both brothers were recently waived during the final roster cuts by their respective teams, making them available for the Raiders as they seek to strengthen their defensive capabilities. Azeez, with his proven track record, is viewed as the more accomplished player, while BJ's potential remains intriguing, particularly for a team looking to bolster its pass rush.

The Raiders are currently in need of additional pass-rushing support, especially after losing rookie Keyron Crawford to an Achilles injury. With only four active players on the roster and two on the practice squad capable of filling that role, the addition of either Ojulari brother could provide much-needed depth and skill to the team’s defensive front.

As the Raiders continue their preparations for the upcoming season, the workouts with the Ojulari brothers highlight their commitment to exploring all avenues for improvement on the field. The potential signing of either player could prove pivotal as the Raiders aim to enhance their defensive strategies and overall performance in the league.
