Red Sox's Roman Anthony, Trevor Story Reportedly Staying In Triple-A Thursday

The Boston Red Sox will take on the New York Yankees in a four-game series in the Bronx starting on Friday.

The team has an off day on Friday and all eyes are on Trevor Story and Roman Anthony, who could come off the injured list for the Yankees series. However, according to WooSox reporter Tommy Cassell, they will both be in Worcester on Thursday.

It's not a far trip from Worcester to the Bronx, so it's still possible that they could be called up tomorrow. Coincidentally, the WooSox are facing the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate on Thursday. Both need the at-bats, so it's possible that the Red Sox are allowing them each to get a few more at-bats on Thursday before making the move to get them back in the lineup against the Yankees.

The Red Sox can pass the Yankees in the standings in this series. If both teams remain in position to be the top two wild card teams, the team with the better record will host a best-of-three series. The Red Sox would love to have the Yankees come to Fenway instead of having to make the trip to Yankee Stadium.

Anthony was a star last season, despite only playing 71 games. He was amazing in the World Baseball Classic, but got off to a slow start to the season. However, a healthy Anthony in the Red Sox lineup could change the outlook of the entire offense.

The Red Sox rank 22nd in home runs, and getting Anthony back would certainly help in that department.
