Santos Futebol Clube has announced the signing of midfielder Lima on loan from Fluminense, with the agreement set to last until the end of 2026. Known for his adaptability on the field and an astute understanding of the game, Lima is expected to make a significant impact in the upcoming seasons.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Lima stated, “I’m very happy for the opportunity to play for Santos. I arrive highly motivated and fully aware of the significance and responsibility of wearing a shirt with so much history in Brazilian football. Being here is a great source of pride for me.” This sentiment reflects the high expectations surrounding his arrival at the storied club.
Born on June 11, 1996, in Araçatuba, São Paulo, Lima began his football journey in the youth system of Tanabi before moving to Grêmio in 2013. It was at Grêmio where he honed his skills, eventually making his professional debut in 2017. During his time with the Porto Alegre club, he was part of a squad that celebrated victory in both the state championship and the Recopa Sudamericana in 2018.
After a successful loan spell at Ceará in 2019, where he gained recognition for his passing ability and tactical awareness, Lima returned to the club on a permanent basis in 2021. He became a crucial player for Ceará, helping them secure the Copa do Nordeste in 2020 and the Campeonato Cearense in 2022, further solidifying his reputation in Brazilian football.
In December 2022, Lima made a move to Fluminense, where he played an instrumental role in the club's historic achievement of winning their first-ever Conmebol Libertadores title. Additionally, he contributed to their success in the Rio de Janeiro state championship that same year and helped the team clinch the Recopa Sudamericana in 2024. Over his time at Fluminense, Lima made 168 appearances and netted 16 goals, showcasing his offensive capabilities alongside his defensive responsibilities.
Before joining Santos, Lima had a brief loan stint with América in Mexico at the start of 2026. His arrival marks Santos FC's third signing during the current transfer window, following the acquisitions of defensive midfielder Arthur and right-back Rodinei. As the club seeks to strengthen its lineup, Lima’s experience and skill set will be vital as they aim for success in the upcoming seasons.
