Sebastian Rode Begins Trainee Program at Eintracht Frankfurt

In a significant development for both Sebastian Rode and Eintracht Frankfurt, the former team captain has officially commenced a one-year trainee program at the club. This program, which runs from September 2026 to August 2027, allows Rode to explore various operational areas within Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, marking a new chapter in his professional journey following his retirement from football.

Rode, now 35, has a storied history with Eintracht Frankfurt, having spent nine and a half years with the club across two separate spells. His career at Eintracht was highlighted by notable achievements, including participation in three UEFA Europa League campaigns. Most notably, he played a pivotal role in the team's triumphant run to the Europa League title in 2022, which secured their qualification for the UEFA Champions League. Additionally, Rode was part of the squad that reached the DFB Cup final in 2023, further solidifying his legacy at the club.

During his time at Eintracht, Rode made a remarkable 278 appearances, more than for any other club, and served as captain from 2021 until his retirement in 2024. His leadership and contributions on the field have left an indelible mark on the club's history, making his return in this new capacity particularly meaningful.

The trainee program that Rode is undertaking encompasses both sporting and administrative sectors of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG. As part of this initiative, he will gain insights into the club's daily operations, including work at the ProfiCamp and EintrachtLab located at Deutsche Bank Park. Moreover, he will be actively involved in various roles on matchdays, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the club's functioning beyond the pitch.

Axel Hellmann, the CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, expressed enthusiasm about Rode's return, stating, “Sebastian Rode immortalised himself as a player at Eintracht Frankfurt and has regularly shown his face here since his departure from the football stage. We’re pleased to have him back here as an official team member from now.” This sentiment reflects the club's appreciation for Rode's contributions and the value they see in his continued involvement.

In his own words, Rode acknowledged the significance of Eintracht Frankfurt in his football career, saying, “It’s no secret that Eintracht Frankfurt was the most defining period of my life in football terms and that I’ve been continuing my education for a number of years now.
