The son of a former Bob Huggins basketball standout at the University of Cincinnati is already on the radar of several NCAA football powers as a high school freshman.
Jason Maxiell II, son of James P. Kelly, UC Athletic Hall of Famer Jason Maxiell, is in the Class of 2030 at Southlake Carroll High School, located between Dallas and Fort Worth.
He made himself known in Southlake Carroll's opener on Aug. 27, when his team rallied from a 27-0 deficit to beat Jenks (Oklahoma) 34-33 at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Maxiell II made a game-saving play in the fourth quarter.

His profile lists him at 6-foot-1 and 221 pounds, while his X account lists him at 6-foot-3 and 238 pounds with an 82.5" wingspan. His father was listed anywhere from 6-foot-5 to 6-foot-7 in his career and had a wingspan of 87.25".
Maxiell II is just 14 years old and doesn't turn 15 until November, so there's a good chance he'll grow.

He played in 129 consecutive games, second only to Keith Gregor, another Huggins recruit. Maxiell was twice All-Conference USA and was once C-USA Sixth Man of the Year.
He was a first-round NBA draft pick of the Detroit Pistons in 2005. He played 10 NBA seasons, mainly with Detroit, but also with Orlando and Charlotte.
