DETROIT — It feels too soon, but the Major League baseball schedule is an unrelenting, unsentimental beast.
Tarik Skubal, who won two straight Cy Young awards while pitching for the Tigers, hasn’t been gone a month and yet he will make his return to Comerica Park on Friday night, pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first of a three-game series.
Skubal is 1-2 in his four starts with the Dodgers, allowing nine earned runs in 24 innings with 30 strikeouts and seven walks. His last start was his best. After allowing three first-inning runs to the Pirates at PNC Park, he shut the door, finishing seven innings with 11 strikeouts.
The Tigers will send Drew Anderson to the mound on Friday.
Lefty Blake Snell will start for the Dodgers on Saturday against Keider Montero. The Dodgers haven’t named a started for Sunday. The Tigers will close out the series with Framber Valdez.
This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
