Tarik Skubal explained why he took the espresso machine he had gifted for Tigers clubhouse

Tarik Skubal was justifiably emotional about Friday's start in Detroit. It was his first trip back to face his former club just a few weeks after being traded to the Dodgers from the Tigers. He obviously expected questions about going back to Detroit.

He probably didn't expect questions about an espresso machine, but the Tigers wanted answers.

Now, every team would hate to lose a two-time Cy Young Award winner from the clubhouse. But Skubal's departure was really felt in the form of a missing espresso machine.

According to The Athletic, Skubal gifted a high-end espresso machine for the Tigers clubhouse. And when he was traded to Los Angeles, the machine went with him. As if that wasn't already diabolical, he blamed his wife for it. Via The Athletic:

“That was my wife (Jessica),” Skubal joked. “I wanted to leave it and get a new one, but she wouldn’t let me. My wife was like, ‘That was too expensive to just run the charge back.’”

Mind you, Skubal is making $32 million this year. That espresso machine should have stayed. I can only imagine the absolute sadness that Spencer Torkelson experienced upon seeing that the machine was gone.

"Couldn't believe it," Spencer Torkelson said, laughing. "That was a really good espresso machine."

He really should buy them a new one. It's only right.
