The University of Tennessee has officially unveiled the Alvin Kamara Family Lobby at Neyland Stadium, a tribute to the former Volunteers star and current New Orleans Saints running back. The lobby, located at Gate 19, was inaugurated on September 4, just a day before the Volunteers' season opener against Furman. Kamara, who played for Tennessee from 2015 to 2016, played an active role in the design process, ensuring that the space reflects both his college and professional football journeys.

During the unveiling, Kamara expressed his amazement at the final result, stating, "Man, it’s beautiful. You got an idea in your head of what something’s going to look like, and then when it actually comes together and you see it, it’s like 10 times better than what I was imagining." The lobby was made possible through a significant philanthropic contribution from Kamara to his alma mater, highlighting his commitment to giving back to the university that played a crucial role in his career.

Kamara's journey to success was not without its challenges. He experienced a difficult redshirt freshman year at Alabama before transferring to Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. Following a standout season there, he earned another chance in the Southeastern Conference with the Volunteers, where he made a lasting impact. Reflecting on his time at Tennessee, Kamara remarked, "This gave me a resurgence, a new lease on life and my career. So, blessed and forever grateful for the University of Tennessee. I just wanted to give back."

The lobby features a variety of design elements that celebrate Kamara's legacy, including photographs from his two seasons with the Volunteers and highlights from his NFL career. Notably, the space includes a tribute to the historic game on December 25, 2020, when Kamara tied the all-time NFL record with six rushing touchdowns in a single game. Initially, Kamara believed the focus would solely be on his college career, but the design team opted to showcase his entire story, emphasizing resilience and determination.

Kamara dedicated the lobby to his family, who were present at the unveiling, underscoring the importance of their support throughout his journey. As he enters his 10th season in the NFL, all with the Saints, Kamara remains proud of his time at Tennessee, stating that the university's history and tradition have left a lasting impression on him.

In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Kamara maintains a strong connection with the Tennessee football program, frequently visiting and fostering relationships with current players and coaching staff. He expressed admiration for head coach Josh Heupel, noting, "You see him around the guys, you see him around the program ... and you see a guy that’s a leader. The guys like him ... they respect him ... they’ll definitely give their all for him." This connection highlights Kamara's ongoing commitment to the university and its football program, as he continues to inspire future generations of athletes.
