There has been speculation after the Golden State Warriors’ poor offseason that Stephen Curry could leave. A recent report has provided an update on the situation.
Golden State Warriors fans were dreaming about watching LeBron James and Stephen Curry playing together before the offseason began. The summer has been anything but a dream, however.
Not only did LeBron not join the Warriors, they haven’t added any significant pieces who might be able to help them be considered a truly competitive team in the Western Conference.
This is less than ideal for Curry, who is 38 years old going into the 2026-27 NBA season. Amid rumours he might actually move on from the team, a recent report has clarified the situation.

And while fans have been given reasons to worry, Brett Siegel’s recent report should put their minds at ease a little. The NBA insider explained what the future looks like.
“Whether or not Steph takes that or if he takes a discount, the ball is totally in his court,” Siegel said. “They’ll be on the same page as far as what type of contract extension this is going to look like.
“And also, if he wants to put off a potential contract extension and wait until next offseason, where he’ll enter unrestricted free agency and they can negotiate a long-term deal there to make him a Warrior for life. He’s not going to be leaving the Golden State Warriors.
“They’re not going to trade him. They’ve had no conversations about that, he’s not approaching the Warriors about that. He’s going to be retiring with the Warriors.”
Siegel mentioned that the Warriors will be looking to give Curry a 2-year, $136.7 million max extension, which might also explain the confidence with which he reports that Steph will not be leaving.
While it would be great to see Curry compete at the highest level in the NBA playoffs, it is equally heartening to think about him retiring as a legend with the Warriors.
