In Sunday’s matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky, Caitlin Clark had an MVP-worthy performance. Clark added 37 points, shooting an efficient 67 percent from behind the three-point line, and recorded 10 assists as she led her team past the Sky, 113-90.
With the absence of Fever forward Aaliyah Boston, Clark was able to take more shots and provide even more offensive impact than usual. Former ESPN analyst Skip Bayless addressed his thoughts on Clark’s recent output via a post on X.

“She showed you on full display once again why she is the best player in the WNBA. She is obviously the best passer in the league, by far the best passer, a generational passer. But when called upon, as she was on Sunday, she showed she’s capable of being the most nuclear scorer, the most explosive scorer even beyond her teammate Kelsey Mitchell,” Bayless said.
Bayless explained the relevance of Boston missing Sunday’s game, ultimately leading Clark to shine.
“Aaliyah Boston, at six feet five inches tall, was out, as well as her 12.3 shot attempts per game. So Caitlin all of a sudden didn’t have to worry about getting Aaliyah her shots, pick-and-rolling with Aaliyah, making sure she got her touches in the lane…and all of a sudden Caitlin Clark said, ‘Okay, I’ll shoot it far more than I’ll try to pass it.’ Caitlin Clark attempted a career-high 24 shots Sunday at Chicago, and she scored 37 points to go with her 10 assists. So Caitlin Clark for the year is averaging 15.7 shot attempts per game, and she took a career-high 24 at Chicago; think about that,” Bayless added.
Bayless compared the careers of NBA veterans Luka Doncic and LeBron James to Clark’s in terms of legacy.
“Caitlin is starting to remind me, and you’ll laugh, but it’s true, she’s starting to remind me of LeBron and Luka in the dilemma they have faced their whole career about: who exactly are they? What’s their identity? It becomes a bit of an identity crisis on how does it factor into winning basketball games and certainly starring in basketball games, in MVP-ing and making MVP cases,” Bayless said.
Both Doncic and James have been regarded as pillars of their teams in both scoring and assisting. Clark has a long road ahead but has shown glimpses of greatness in each category.
