Third-ranked Jacks football dominates in home opener

BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) --- SDSU kicked off its season at home against Stetson on Saturday with a 70-7 win.

The Jacks wasted no time against the Hatters, scoring on the first offensive play in each half and totaling over 600 yards of total offense in the win. The SDSU defense held down the fort on the other side of the ball with Max Stanard recording six tackles and three other Jacks putting up five tackles a piece. State stunned on special teams too, with Max Pelham punting a career-long 69-yarder in the fourth to complete a well rounded performance for the Jacks, none of which was a surprise to head coach Dan Jackson.

"I trust our players because I just see them every day," Jackson said. "I don't really care so much who we're playing. I see how our guys play and compete at practice all the time. We have a talented team that's got some depth and so practice is really competitive and its fun."

SDSU will meet former Jackrabbit Griffin Wilde in Evanston Illinois next for a date with Northwestern.
