Three Coaches Charged Following Youth Football Game Altercation

In a troubling incident at a local youth football game, three coaches have been charged following a physical altercation that was captured on video. The confrontation occurred on August 29 at Honus Wagner Field in Carnegie during a match between the Carlynton Cougars and the Keystone Oaks football teams.

Carnegie's Chief of Police, Jeffrey L. Kennedy, announced that the head coach of Carlynton and two coaches from Keystone Oaks are facing charges as a result of the fight. According to reports, the altercation escalated quickly, and by the time law enforcement arrived, the situation had already calmed down, with spectators leaving the stadium.

Witnesses indicated that the Carlynton head coach appeared to instigate the fight, with video evidence showing him throwing punches even after attempts were made to de-escalate the situation. Chief Kennedy noted that the actions of the coach could have led to significant harm and created a serious disruption during the game.

While the Carlynton head coach has been charged with disorderly conduct and harassment, the two Keystone Oaks coaches face charges of disorderly conduct as well. The police report suggests that while the Keystone Oaks coaches participated in the fight, they did not initiate the conflict.

In the aftermath of the incident, Dequay Canton, who identifies himself as the head coach of the Carlynton Little Cougars, released a statement alleging that racial slurs were directed at his players during the game. He also claimed that another coach from the opposing team initiated physical contact first, contributing to the escalation of the altercation.

The Steel City Youth Football League has responded to the incident by suspending two coaches indefinitely while an investigation is underway. Additionally, both teams have taken action by suspending a total of five coaches from their respective programs.
