PSG are expecting an improved offer from Bradley Barcola “in the next 24-48 hours”.
Julien Laurens shared the update in question on ESPN on Tuesday evening, with the player having already secured personal terms with Liverpool.
Meanwhile, the Merseysiders have been rebuffed in their attempts to land Brighton right winger Yankuba Minteh, with the Seagulls holding firm on their £80m valuation.

For all intents and purposes, it would appear that Liverpool’s negotiations with PSG are progressing relatively smoothly.
However, we’re a little concerned about one line from Laurens’ piece for ESPN, which explicitly stated that Barcola isn’t opposed to the idea of staying in the French capital.
“Liverpool agreed personal terms with Barcola, who has been the priority signing for the Merseyside club all summer, some time ago,” the reporter noted.
“However, Barcola, who has two years left on his contract, is not forcing a move out of the French capital and is not averse to staying put.”
This seems a little strange, given that Luis Enrique’s men have significantly bolstered the squad with players set to actively compete with the France international for minutes.

Not to mention the fact that prior reporting indicated the PSG head coach has little interest in handing minutes to a squad option who isn’t fully committed to the cause in Paris.
With all that in mind, we just can’t see that Bradley Barcola has a future at PSG to fall back on. At least not one that doesn’t see him infrequently featuring on the pitch for the Champions League holders while his value plummets.

The simple fact of the matter is that PSG find themselves in an awkward position. Yes, Liverpool have let them run the window how they’d like, getting in key reinforcements, including Mika Godts, Maghnes Akliouche and Ferran Torres.
However, with their additions secured – and Barcola’s contract set to expire in less than two years – the current summer transfer window remains the club’s best option to secure maximum value.
Liverpool aren’t really in a position to walk away from a deal so late in the window, but the Ligue 1 champions have to move on their No.29 at a bare minimum. Frankly, there’s an argument that there isn’t really space in the squad for Ibrahim Mbaye either.
Either way, we just don’t see a world in which Bradley Barcola isn’t a Liverpool player come the deadline on September 1.
