The Arizona high school swimming and diving season is set to begin with dual meets starting on Thursday, September 3. As anticipation builds, The Arizona Republic has highlighted the top female swimmers and divers to watch in 2026. Fans and supporters are encouraged to participate in a poll to vote for their favorite athlete, which will be open until September 10 at 6 p.m. The poll is accessible online at azcentral.com/sports/high-schools.
This year’s list features a mix of seasoned veterans and promising newcomers, showcasing the depth of talent within Arizona's high school swimming community. Leading the pack is Delaney Barbee from Boulder Creek High School, a senior who has committed to continue her swimming career at Arizona State University. Barbee has been a standout since her freshman year and is aiming to cap off her high school journey by breaking her own state record in the 50-yard freestyle, which currently stands at an impressive 22.74 seconds.
Following Barbee is sophomore Remington Willard from Desert Mountain, who made a significant impact as a freshman by winning the Division I state title in the 50-yard freestyle. Her fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle at last year's state championships indicates her potential for further growth and success in her second year.
Another notable competitor is Alexa Largent from Desert Vista, a junior who is expected to contend for state titles in both the 200 and 500 freestyle events. Senior Tila Tometich from Corona del Sol is expected to challenge for state titles in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, while Ryan Webb from Yuma Catholic, also a senior, is a reigning champion in Division III for the 100 butterfly and 100 back events.
