This year's Walker Cup is particularly notable as it follows an unusual back-to-back occurrence. Traditionally held every two years, the United States Golf Association (USGA) and The Royal and Ancient Golf Club (R&A) agreed to shift the tournament to even-numbered years to avoid scheduling conflicts with other major events. As a result, the 2025 and 2026 editions will also occur in quick succession, creating a unique situation for both teams.
