Unrivaled, the innovative women's basketball league, is set to make a triumphant return to New York City on January 22, 2027. The league announced on September 3 that it will host a regular-season showcase at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, featuring four competing teams. This event is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and is part of Unrivaled's growing presence in the sports landscape.

The decision to return to New York comes on the heels of a highly successful semifinal event held in early 2026, which sold out within two weeks of its announcement. This enthusiastic reception underscored the demand for women's basketball in the city, prompting Unrivaled's Commissioner, Micky Lawler, to express excitement about the upcoming showcase. "The strong reception and sellout in just two weeks made it a no-brainer for Unrivaled to return in season three," Lawler stated. She emphasized the league's eagerness to showcase the talent of its athletes to passionate fans in Brooklyn once again.

To celebrate the announcement, Wilka's, a Manhattan sports bar that champions women's sports, hosted an event that turned into a vibrant gathering for Unrivaled supporters. Guests enjoyed complimentary drinks and music while watching highlights of the league on screens throughout the venue. The atmosphere was electric, drawing in dedicated women's basketball fans and newcomers alike, all eager to engage with the league's growing momentum.

Wilka's, named after the Polish word for wolf, embodies a spirit of community and strength, aligning perfectly with Unrivaled's mission. The bar plans to host viewing events throughout the upcoming season, creating a dedicated space for fans to connect and follow the league's action leading up to the January event.

The January 22 game at Barclays Center marks the beginning of Unrivaled's Season 3 tour, which is being promoted under the banner of "Unrivaled on Tour with Ally." This initiative includes a month-long bus trip across the country, with New York being the first announced stop. The league's bus recently rolled into the city, and further locations for the tour will be revealed in early October.

Maker's Mark, which became Unrivaled's first official spirits sponsor in 2025, will present the Brooklyn showcase. This partnership aims to enhance the fan experience through hospitality and specialty drinks, further integrating the excitement of basketball with social events.

Unrivaled was co-founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, launching in 2025 with a unique athlete-ownership model and a fast-paced, full-court format. Currently, the league comprises eight teams, although the specific teams participating in the New York event have yet to be announced. The games will be broadcast simultaneously on HBO Max, TNT, and truTV, with the potential for the starting time to change. A complete schedule for Season 3, including details about games at Miami's Sephora Arena, will be released in the fall.

Tickets for the Barclays Center event went on sale on September 3, with fans able to purchase them through Ticketmaster and the Unrivaled website. The excitement surrounding the previous year's turnout indicates a strong appetite for women's basketball in New York, and the recent celebration at Wilka's only amplifies the anticipation for the next Unrivaled night.
