Dallas Goedert is entering his ninth season with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, at 31 years old, he is coming off the best fantasy year of his career. With A.J. Brown gone and a rookie tight end in the building, should fantasy managers be drafting Goedert in 2026?
Should I Draft Dallas Goedert in Fantasy Football?I expected to be out on Goedert this season.
The reason is that his 2025 breakout was almost entirely a mirage. Goedert averaged 12.3 fantasy points per game, and that figure was inflated by an absurd 11 touchdowns. Nothing else about his profile actually changed.

His targets and yards landed right in his usual range. His yards per reception was a career-low 9.9. He simply happened to find the end zone six more times than he ever had before. For context on how extreme that was, you would have to add up his previous four seasons combined to exceed last year’s touchdown total.
Strip the scoring away and Goedert was woefully inefficient. His 1.38 yards per route run ranked 27th at the position. Despite running a route on 91.6% of Philadelphia’s pass plays, he earned a target on just 19.2% of them. That is a player who was on the field constantly and rarely the read.
All of that sounds like a straightforward fade, and for most of the summer that is where I sat.
I have been warming to the idea of Goedert hanging on for one more year, though. The reason starts with the tight end room. Philadelphia spent a first-round pick on Eli Stowers, which should have been the death knell. Instead, reports on Stowers have been quite negative to the point that he is not expected to make any impact as a rookie. The job is not being taken from Goedert this season.
The bigger factor is what happened at wide receiver. With Brown in New England, DeVonta Smith steps up as the clear WR1. Behind him sit Dontayvion Wicks and rookie first-rounder Makai Lemon.
That group is not replacing what Brown commanded. Even collectively, they are not going to draw volume the way he did, which leaves a meaningful share of targets looking for a home. It is entirely possible that Jalen Hurts leans a little more on the players he actually trusts, and that list is short. It is Smith and Goedert.

That is the case for one last hurrah. Nobody should be projecting another 11 touchdowns, and the efficiency numbers are not going to suddenly improve at 31.
Goedert is my TE12 against a TE13 ADP, which puts him right on the border of the group I would consider before punting the position entirely. If you decide to wait beyond the top 12 tight ends, he is a nice fallback option to have in your back pocket.
