The Monroe County Region is gearing up for its next Athlete of the Week voting period, which runs from August 31 to September 6. Following a strong showing in the previous week, Dundee soccer player Mason Cousino has already made a significant impact, having been named the first Athlete of the Week for the 2026-27 school year.
Cousino dominated the voting for the period of August 24-30, securing an impressive 63.7 percent of the total votes cast, which amounted to 12,657. His tally of 8,062 votes far surpassed the second-place finisher, Austin Taylor, a football player from Summerfield, who garnered 2,984 votes.
As the new voting period commences, fans and supporters can cast their votes for their favorite athletes until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 10. This extension is due to the Labor Day holiday, allowing voters an extra day to participate in this exciting local tradition.
