After the Nats first walk off of the season yesterday, we are getting another first today. CJ Abrams is making his much anticipated debut at second base. It has been over two weeks since the initial announcement, but Abrams is finally at his new position. Hopefully that can re-ignite his offense.
As mentioned, CJ Abrams will indeed be playing second base today. That means Nasim Nunez is at shortstop. Jorbit Vivas will be at third over Brady House. Andres Chaparro will be at first and Abi Ortiz will DH. Jacob Young and Harry Ford also return to the lineup. Andrew Alvarez takes the ball this afternoon.

— Washington Nationals (@Nationals) August 30, 2026With a lefty on the mound, the Marlins have a lot of righties in the lineup. Jakob Marsee is the only pure left handed bat in the lineup. Esteury Ruiz, Leo Jimenez, Agustin Ramirez and Brian Navarreto are all in the lineup after sitting yesterday. This is a very different lineup for Miami. Janson Junk will make the start in this one.

It will be good to finally see CJ Abrams at second base. This whole situation seems to have negatively impacted him. Now that he is actually playing the position, hopefully things start to fall into place. This is also a good chance for the Nats to stay hot. Follow along in the comments down below and let’s go Nats.
