WATCH: Spencer Rattler takes it himself to extend the Saints' lead

So far this NFL preseason, the New Orleans Saints have had trouble finding their footing, falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams in the first two matchups. In game three though, things are starting to go their way, as Barrion Brown took in a rushing touchdown earlier in the night, and now Spencer Rattler picked up one of his own on the ground. In those first two matchups, he had not shown much in the way of explosive plays, being held in check on most of his passing attempts despite completing a decent chunk of them.

Against Dallas, though, he finished the first half 8-of-10 for 79 yards and rushed twice for 9 yards and a touchdown, showcasing some of the impressive playmaking capabilities that got him the starting role initially last year.

Rattler continues to duke it out with former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson for the backup job behind Tyler Shough, so we will see how this performance factors into that decision. Ultimately, the odd man out could be a trade candidate, given the pedigree both have as backups in the NFL so far.
