Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been talking about Julian Alvarez once again and has told Atletico Madrid that the club still want to sign the Argentina international.

Laporta has already said that Barcelona have made a bid for the forward and now says he remains hopeful Atletico will accept the offer.

“We are very interested in the player and we would like our offer to be accepted,” he said, per Mundo Deportivo.

“We do this with all due respect to Atlético, and if they are in a position to sell the player on the market, we are prepared to buy him in accordance with the offer we made.”

Atletico’s stance throughout the transfer window has been that Alvarez is simply not for sale, even though the forward has asked for move.

The situation has now turned rather ugly, with Atletico fans whistling the player and Alvarez being advised to keep away from supporters, as we head towards the final days of the transfer window.
