Bo Nix has only been in the Denver Broncos for two seasons, yet teammates are already talking about him like he has been around far longer. That feeling is not coming from hype alone. Nix has steadily grown into the Broncos’ offense, and another offseason has brought another noticeable jump. Now, entering Year 3, his teammates are seeing something different in the quarterback.
That development has become especially important after Nix’s breakout start to his career. He has already led the Broncos to the playoffs twice and helped the team reach the AFC Championship Game last season, however, the Broncos believe there is still another level waiting for him.

Singleton pointed to Nix’s steady development and the way he continues adding something to his game every offseason.

That growth is showing up in a more detailed way this offseason. Sean Payton and offensive coordinator Davis Webb have focused on getting Nix’s footwork synchronized with the timing of his routes. The goal is not to slow down his processing; however, to make sure his feet and progressions arrive at the right moment.
Nix’s quick processing has already been one of his biggest strengths. It helped him avoid sacks and engineer 12 comeback victories last season, however, it also occasionally caused him to rush through his dropback, reach later progressions too early, and leave potential downfield throws on the table.
The numbers back up that concern. Nix averaged just 6.4 yards per attempt last season and completed 44.1% of throws traveling at least 10 air yards. The Broncos want more explosive production, especially with Jaylen Waddle now joining Courtland Sutton and the rest of the receiving corps.
That is where Nix’s growing comfort becomes important. He has spent two years learning Payton’s system and now has a better understanding of defensive looks, route concepts and protection adjustments. Webb has already noticed Nix staying with his first read longer before moving through the progression and using his legs when necessary.
Nix also returned from his playoff ankle injury last week, completing 6-of-9 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers. He has already said he wants more preseason work before Denver opens the regular season at the Kansas City Chiefs.
For Singleton, though, the bigger takeaway is obvious. Nix may technically be entering Year 3, however, inside the Broncos locker room, he already carries the familiarity and command of someone who has been there much longer.
