The WNBA is choosing to move on rather than ramp up penalties after Enes Kanter’s heated ejection at the Fever-Sky matchup.
The WNBA have taken an indirect stand on Royce White and Enes Kanter, with the league refusing to take them both seriously when it comes to registering for the draft.
And after being ejected from the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky clash, Kanter pushed back against critics who accused him of crashing the event, revealing that he wasn’t there uninvited. He disclosed that he reached out directly to Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca, who greenlit his attendance beforehand.
But the WNBA’s stance on Kanter attending future games makes things even more baffling.
According to TMZ, the WNBA has no plans to ban Kanter from coming to games as a fan, even though he was ejected from a Chicago Sky game.
They claim that sources with direct knowledge have stated the plan inside the league is to try and move on and let the controversy die. And that the league felt a ban wasn’t warranted because Enes didn’t set foot on the court and he didn’t do anything else that was egregious.
The use of ‘egregious’ ties in directly to what WNBA fans have suggested about Natasha Cloud. They claim that she should receive retrospective action for instigating the incident and acting in an improper manor, which is prohibited in the rule book.
However, as has been the case for the past few weeks, the WNBA are taking a step back from everything and hoping it sorts itself out.
