The Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) is set to return for its 2026 edition, featuring an expanded lineup of teams and an exciting schedule. Previously, the tournament included just three franchises: the Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Trinbago Knight Riders. This year, the Jamaica Empress joins the competition, adding more depth to the league.
The Barbados Tridents, now renamed from Barbados Royals ahead of this season, are the most decorated team in the history of the WCPL, having claimed victory in three out of the four editions held thus far. They will kick off the tournament against the Trinbago Knight Riders in the opening match on September 5, 2026, in Bridgetown.
The tournament will follow a round-robin format, where each team competes against the others. The team that finishes at the top of the points table will secure a place in the final, while the second and third-placed teams will face off in a playoff to determine who will join them.
All matches will take place in Bridgetown, with varying start times to accommodate fans. Four matches, including the playoff, are scheduled to begin at 10 AM local time (7:30 PM IST, 3 PM UK). Two games will start at 3 PM local time (12:30 AM IST next day, 8 PM UK), while two others, including the final, will commence at 2 PM local time (11:30 PM IST, 7 PM UK).
