Thanks to a rain delay, it wasn’t until 1 a.m. ET eastern time that the game between the Baltimore Orioles and Colorado Rockies finally finished in the Mile High City. But for the Orioles fans that stayed up late into the evening, it was definitely worth the wait.
The Orioles held a 2-1 lead with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. With the tying run on second base and the potential winning run at the plate, Colorado’s Jake McCarthy sent a blast into straight-away center field.
Baltimore center fielder Colton Cowser tracked the ball all the way to the wall, leaped, and made one of the plays of the season in stretching his glove above the wall to make the home run robbery and win the game.
In the O’s broadcast booth on MASN, Kevin Brown was on the call and proved once again why he’s one of the top voices in baseball.

“Cowser racing back, Cowser near the wall, jumps, Cowser… he made the catch! He made the catch! It might be the greatest home run robbery game-ending catch you’ll see in your life,” Brown exclaimed. “Unbelievable!”
On the radio side, Orioles announcer Brett Hollander was equally as excited on WBAL, labelling the catch “one of the greatest plays you’ll ever see.”

Having had to wait that long for that ending, you can definitely understand the enthusiasm. And given the moment, with Colton Cowser deciding the game entirely in his glove, it might not be hyperbole to suggest it was one of the greatest catches of all time.
But maybe even more importantly, the catch and the win means that the Orioles are finally back to .500 after toiling at the bottom of the AL East for much of the 2026 season. And they are now only a half game behind the Cleveland Guardians for the final wild card spot in the playoffs.
