Alejandro Balde as reportedly told Barcelona he wants to stay and fight for his spot in the team amid speculation about a summer exit.
Gerard Romero reported last week that Balde had decided to seek an exit, and he was subsequently left out of the Barcelona team to face Elche.
Hansi Flick said after the match that he had left Balde out so that he could “clear his head” but insisted he had not told the defender to find a new club and would speak with him about his future.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Balde has now told Barcelona he does not want a move and is ready to try and fight his way back into Flick’s starting XI at Camp Nou.
Romano adds: “His intention is clear; decision up to the club after exploring sale. Only a big proposal from a top club can change the scenario from now to Deadline Day.”

Balde looks to have plenty of competition for his place. Joao Cancelo has signed permanently from Al-Hilal, while Xavi Espart is reportedly set to be promoted to the first-team after an impressive pre-season. Gerard Martin is also an option at left-back for Flick.
The defender will now be hoping to be recalled to the squad for Barcelona’s next game against Athletic Club. Flick is set to face the media shortly ahead of the game and may well have an update on Balde’s future before the match.
