There’s now just five days remaining of the transfer window and Liverpool still have plenty to do.
The Reds have now agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain worth around £120m over the signing of Bradley Barcola. But the arrival of the Frenchman could be about to push a Liverpool star towards the exit door at Anfield…
That player is Cody Gakpo. After a disappointing season last year, scoring just nine goals, Gakpo has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Andoni Iraola was asked about the situation in his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Iraola said: “He [Gakpo] has been good for us, good attitude. I hope we can keep him at that level.”
But then when asked whether Gakpo could stay, the Spaniard responded: “Not going? No, no. When the market is open, a lot of players – we have nearly 30 – we do not guarantee.”
“I don’t know if any of our players will leave. I cannot guarantee anything.”

Despite the arrival of Barcola, Liverpool are still in the market for another forward. The Reds have had bids rejected for both Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr.
Should another forward follow Barcola through the door, then an exit for Gakpo would look almost inevitable.
