On a rainy Wednesday, the Baltimore Ravens resumed practice and revealed their updated practice squad, now consisting of 17 players. Among the latest additions are veteran tight end Nick Vannett and offensive tackle AJ Arcuri, filling the final vacancies after General Manager Eric DeCosta initially signed 15 players to the squad.
Vannett, a former third-round draft pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2016, brings significant experience to the Ravens' tight end group, which already includes prominent players like Mark Andrews, Durham Smythe, Josh Cuevas, and Matthew Hibner. With 121 regular-season games under his belt, Vannett adds depth and a traditional in-line tight end option to the roster.
AJ Arcuri, drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams, offers Baltimore a developmental choice at offensive tackle. His addition complements Gerad Lichtenhan, who is also on the practice squad, providing the Ravens with two tackle options as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The Ravens' practice squad features a mix of players who have been developed throughout training camp, alongside seasoned veterans who can be called up with minimal preparation. The complete roster includes a diverse array of talent across various positions, ensuring the team is well-prepared for any potential injuries during the regular season.
The finalized practice squad includes the following players: T AJ Arcuri, DL Rayshaun Benny, C Nick Dawkins, ILB Dominic DeLuca, WR Xavier Guillory, OLB Adisa Isaac, LB Carl Jones Jr., T Gerad Lichtenhan, K Jake Moody, WR Chris Moore, DL David Olajiga, CB Amani Oruwariye, TE Ty Pezza, OLB Kaimon Rucker, TE Nick Vannett, S K’Von Wallace, and RB Jonathan Ward.
Notably, the Ravens retained 10 players who were previously waived during the roster reduction to 53, including Benny, Dawkins, DeLuca, Guillory, Isaac, Jones, Lichtenhan, Olajiga, Pezza, and Rucker. Additionally, they brought back five vested veterans who were released at the deadline: Moore, Oruwariye, Wallace, and Ward, while also signing Moody, Vannett, and Arcuri from outside the organization. Moody is expected to provide competition and insurance behind kicker Tyler Loop.
The combination of experienced veterans and younger players like Rucker and Isaac allows the Ravens to continue their development while remaining available for elevation to the active roster. This strategic approach gives Baltimore comprehensive coverage across nearly every position group as they head into the season.
