Ben Shelton’s exclusive On US Open Kit looks a lot like Flavio Cobolli’s

Tennis fans, eagerly awaited Ben Shelton’s exclusive US Open On kit. It is the first time Shelton was getting his own clothing from On.

We spent our free time scrutinizing Nike and Yonex’s US Open kit offerings until Shelton’s was released.

However, that pivotal moment was met with a bit of disappointment because Shelton’s kit, though not an exact replica, looks very similar to Flavio Cobolli’s. There is not a significant pattern, color, or design change.

One person on social media said Shelton’s kit has been pictured on On’s website “for ages.” We have not confirmed if that’s true but if so, that’s even worse.

We have been bombarded by On’s colorblocking for ages. How about a new design or look?

Sadly, Cobolli’s kit will also be exclusive to him for the US Open since an injured Joao Fonseca was forced to withdraw.

Maybe we should overlook the lack of creativity on the exclusive US Open kit and give On kudos for keeping Shelton engaged with the brand by offering a clothing line. It is called the “Lights Out Collection.”

This is a promising step forward for the brand who we thought was trying to break through and become more mainstream by doing a clever French Open social media promotion last spring.
