Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has been ruled out of action for several weeks after sustaining an injury on the opening day of the season.

Lazio Lose Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to Injury

According to Il Messaggero and La Lazio Siamo Noi, clinical tests revealed that Dele-Bashiru suffered a first- or second-degree tear in his right thigh, which should keep him out of action for at least three weeks.

Which Matches Dele-Bashiru Could Miss for Lazio & Nigeria

The Lagos native will therefore miss this Sunday’s home contest against Genoa, as well as Lazio’s two following Serie A fixtures against Udinese (September 7) and AC Milan (September 13). He will also be a doubt for the trip to Venezia (September 19), and it remains to be seen if he’ll recover in time for the international break.

Nigeria will begin their African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with games against Madagascar (September 23) and Guinea-Bissau (September 27).

Adam Marusic Also Out of Action

In addition to Dele-Bashiru, Adam Marusic also picked up an injury in the opening minutes against Bologna. Il Messaggero reveals that the Montenegrin strained his flexor muscle and will be out of action for two to three weeks. Romano Floriani Mussolini is thus expected to start at right-back in the coming weeks, while Manuel Lazzari could leave the club amid interest from Monza and Cagliari.
