As the NFL Top 100 players countdown continues, Detroit star running back Jahmyr Gibbs has landed on No. 9 on the list, making him the highest-ranked Lions player so far.
Gibbs joins wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (No. 22), EDGE Aidan Hutchinson (No. 30), quarterback Jared Goff (No. 33), offensive tackle Penei Sewell (No. 37) and linebacker Jack Campbell (No. 88) as Lions inside the NFL Top 100.
Recently inking a massive three-year, $67.5 million contract extension with the Lions, Gibbs enters the 2026 season as one of the most electrifying running backs in the league. In 17 games played during the 2025 season, Gibbs ran for 1,223 yards and 13 touchdowns on 243 rushing attempts, while also recording 616 receiving yards and five scores on 77 receptions.

— NFL (@NFL) August 25, 2026Here's what NFL.com wrote about Gibbs:
Gibbs' incredible 2025 effort -- one that saw him amass nearly 2,000 scrimmage yards -- flew under the radar thanks to a 9-8, playoffless season from the Lions. The three-time Pro Bowler has racked up 3,580 rushing yards, 1,449 receiving yards and 49 total touchdowns in his first three seasons, making him more than worthy of his new contract that made him the NFL's highest-paid player at his position. Making his Top 100 debut at No. 27 a year ago, Gibbs lands at a new apex in this list just as the team, which traded "Knuckles" teammate David Montgomery to Houston this offseason, pivots to make him its bell cow for 2026. - NFL.com
Gibbs' 49 touchdowns scored through his first three NFL seasons is a record.
The 2023 first-round pick out of Alabama is yet to make an appearance in the Lions' two preseason games thus far. While Gibbs has one final opportunity to see some action against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, it's most likely that Detroit just shelves him for the preseason altogether.
Kickoff between the Lions and Colts is set for 1 p.m. ET with the game airing on the NFL Network.
