Kelly Twirls Timely Gem, Nootbar Comes Up Huge
Merrill Kelly got the nod for the first game of a day-night double header in San Francisco. The veteran right-hander put his tough August struggles behind him and gave the Snakes seven innings of shutout, two-hit baseball. Lars Nootbar provided the timely offense for the victory, coming in to pinch-hit in the seventh where he launched a splash-down grand slam.
