ESPN eliminating the ticker on college football broadcasts in 2026

College football games on ESPN will look different in the 2026 season.

The network announced that it is getting rid of the BottomLine ticker at the bottom of college football broadcasts that shows scores and news during games, via Front Office Sports.

The move will be in effect for games on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, SEC Network and ACC Network.

“We’re always looking for ways to better serve sports fans. By removing the BottomLine during live action, we’re creating a cleaner presentation that keeps the focus where it belongs — on the field,” an ESPN spokesperson said in the statement to Front Office Sports.

ESPN's first college football broadcast of the season will be the North Carolina vs TCU game from Dublin, Ireland, at 9 a.m. MST on Aug. 29.
