The Tennessee Volunteers football team is gearing up for the 2026 season, and a recent mix-up regarding their promotional materials has caught the attention of fans. Freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon has been named the starting quarterback, yet the First Horizon Bank poster promoting the team's schedule features sophomore George MacIntyre instead.

This poster, which was shared by the Vol Network on X (formerly Twitter) on September 2, showcases several key players, including head coach Josh Heupel, running back DeSean Bishop, linebacker Arion Carter, wide receiver Braylon Staley, defensive back Ty Redmond, and MacIntyre. The posters are being distributed for free at various locations throughout East Tennessee, from Chattanooga to the Tri-Cities, while supplies last.

The Volunteers, currently ranked No. 18, are set to kick off their season against Furman on September 5 at Neyland Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on SEC Network+. This matchup marks an important moment for the team as they look to establish momentum early in the season.

The quarterback competition has been a focal point during preseason practices, with Brandon officially being named the starter just nine days before the poster's release on August 24. Given that the poster was likely designed prior to this announcement, it is understandable that MacIntyre's image was included. The timing of the poster's release coincided with First Horizon Bank being announced as the sponsor for the jersey patch, marking a significant partnership in the program's history.

This sponsorship deal is noteworthy, valued at $120 million over ten years, and represents the first time in Tennessee football's history that a jersey patch will be featured. In addition to football, First Horizon Bank will also sponsor jersey patches for various Olympic sports, further solidifying its commitment to supporting the University of Tennessee's athletics program. The bank has a long-standing relationship with the Volunteers, having served as a prominent sponsor for the past 34 years.

As the Volunteers prepare for their season opener, the mix-up with the poster serves as a reminder of the excitement and anticipation surrounding the team. Fans are eager to see how the season unfolds under the leadership of Brandon and the rest of the squad. With the support of their sponsors and a dedicated fan base, the Volunteers are looking to make a strong statement this year.
