The Denver Broncos signed safety Taylor Rapp last week but have already released him from the team as of Wednesday. However, head coach Sean Payton indicated that the cut was not football related and that Rapp could be back with the team shortly.
Rapp, a popular player with Los Angeles Rams fans during his four years with the team from 2019 to 2022, has spent the last three seasons with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills released Rapp this past March and he had yet to land with a team until signing with Denver. Rapp played just six games in 2025, but it doesn’t sound like the 28-year-old believes his career is over, just that he is on a hiatus.
If the Broncos do bring him back, the Rams should see him on the field on September 27 when L.A. travels to Mile High Stadium.

Cornerback Al’zillion “AZ” Hamilton was in coverage and decided to switch up his approach after indications from the sideline.
“I was off at first, but I heard my coach saying, ‘Go press it.’ That’s something we preach a lot over here, so I went to go press,” Hamilton told therams.com, recalling the play.
On a curl route, the receiver cut back, but Hamilton was right with him. Wilson made a split second decision to fire it over the middle, but the receiver had already cut back and that gave Hamilton the perfect opportunity to jump the route.
“So I kind of dove out there and just made a play,” Hamilton said. “Just getting a pick was a dream come true, I dreamed of getting a pick in the NFL.”

I think the hard part is there have been up and down days,” McVay said of his backup QBs. “I think our defense does a good job of being able to give a lot of challenging looks. What I have seen in both the games is the guys have good command. I think Ty did a great job against Kansas City and last week getting in and out of the huddle, the operation, being able to get through progressions. I think he’s consistently making good decisions. And then I thought Stetson last week where he got a little bit more opportunities, he showed some of the playmaking with his ability to extend plays with his legs.”

Most NFL teams choose to rest their established players during the preseason to avoid injuries, and Bennett has been in the Rams’ organization for three years now so he doesn’t need the reps that rookie quarterback Ty Simpson does to learn the offense.
Bennett ultimately started both games though and played well in the first game before exploding during the second game. Head coach Sean McVay however said that fellow quarterbacks Ty Simpson and Matthew Caldwell will play on Thursday, so there may not be any available playing time for Bennett.
Bennett and Simpson split time during the first two games while Caldwell never saw the field. If the Rams want Caldwell to play now it seems difficult to make time for three quarterbacks to all play, so that is why Bennett more than likely won’t see the field during the Rams’ final preseason game.“

McVay uses joint practices to get his starters reps against other teams, allowing backups to play all of the snaps in the preseason. It’s possible McVay will even hold out Stetson Bennett, saying he’s unsure whether the fourth-year quarterback will play. Ty Simpson will definitely suit up, and undrafted rookie Matthew Caldwell could also get some snaps.
