Gilbert Arenas doesn’t think Jonathan Kuminga made the right decision by signing a $13 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kuminga was tipped to join the Los Angeles Lakers over the Timberwolves as far back as a few months ago, but opted to go in a different direction.
His $13 million contract is far from what he was demanding in free agency, which has many believing he overestimated his own value.

He slammed him for getting lowballed so badly and wondered why he wouldn’t agree to a similarly frugal contract with the Lakers instead.
“Bro, you just signed a podcast deal! This is crazy. How does your contract keep getting worse? You were just balling in Atlanta!
“You did all this waiting, all this fighting, for you to sign a Costco members deal? Two-year, $13 million? Bro! The Lakers! We got $15 people under contract making more than this.
“If we had known you were selling a– this low, one of them 1980 contracts, 10 years, $10 million, you would have been signed a long time ago. Who is your agent?”
The most recent line of reporting was that the Lakers were exploring sign-and-trade opportunities to land Jonathan Kuminga, as they had already signed 15 players and reached their salary cap limit.
However, the Lakers seemingly weren’t able to agree to a deal with the Atlanta Hawks, who hold Kuminga’s bird rights following the star’s trade from the Golden State Warriors.
With the Timberwolves, Kuminga gets a chance to be on a competitive Western Conference team while not being a first option.
Unlike many of the stars on the team, Kuminga has NBA championship experience, having won the title with the Warriors during his rookie season.
But for Kuminga, a two-year contract gives him the chance to rehab his image and reputation and earn himself a huge payday in the future.
