The National Weather Service in Wilmington has predicted a high temperature of 92 degrees for Friday, September 4, with a heat index expected to exceed 100 degrees. This decision prioritizes player safety amid the sweltering conditions.
In light of the forecast, the following changes to kickoff times have been announced for various games in the area:
Preble Shawnee will face New Miami on Thursday, with the game now set to start at 8 p.m. This adjustment allows teams to avoid the peak heat of the day.
Several other matchups will also see their start times shifted to earlier in the evening. Ross will take on Northwest at 7:30 p.m., while Miamisburg's game against Hilliard Davidson is also scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Lima Central Catholic's game against Urbana will begin at the same time due to transportation issues affecting LCC.
In addition, Olentangy Berlin will maintain its original start time of 7 p.m. for their matchup against Centerville, while Ponitz and Carroll will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Meadowdale's game against Purcell Marian has been adjusted to begin at 7:45 p.m.
Other notable changes include Wyoming's game at Monroe, which will start at 7:30 p.m., and Hillsboro's game against Waynesville, now set for an 8 p.m. kickoff.
